I have a 2001 SCR2700 and the fuel gauge is as useless as the speedometer. Just from experience I know that when the fuel gauge bounces below 1/2 a tank, I should open the engine compartment and take a look. A friend of mine has a fuel flow meter that he loves, he says that it shows how many gallons are burned since a fill-up...Break out the abbaccus and you know how many gallons are left it the tank. Personnally, unless I am going on a fairly long trip, I do not let the tank go below 1/2...Plus I pump-out whenever I fuel up and this keeps the blackwater tank light and relatively odor free.
Eyes are better than gauges!
