Check out the Lightning Protection System. You can probably find one at your marine electronics dealer. It was developed by NASA--looks like a set of bronze brushes set in a saucer-shaped dome atop the radar arch. It disipates the energy which attracts lightning to your boat. I had one installed with my electronics package, and have weathered many thunderstorms with no lightning hits. In my mind, this is better than just knowing if there is lightning around. If it's coming your way, it will hit you before you know it's even there.
