Who's going where this Summer? Lets here about your planned Summer trips! E-mail me.

Patti, the 4 four kids ages 11 to 16 and I are heading north again, on our 4600 SCB. The boat is in St. Petersburg Fl now and beginning May 24th we will ramble up the ICW to Newport RI our old home town, then over to NYC and north to the Erie canal where we will winter the boat @ Winter Harbor in Brewertown NY, (Heated Indoor Storage) run by our friends the Pirro's. We will fly back to Orlando Fl the first week in August. Captain Jim Clausen, billegates@aol.com

Westerbeke Sound Shield, Rusting.

Pretty awful Eh? I pulled the panels from the boat and was going to do the job myself. This is as far as I got. I stripped the hardware along with the foam and took them to a Powder Coating shop. The quote was $125.00 and 7 to 10 days. I said yes. The powder coating process will take my panels into a oven and the paint will be burnt off, then they will immediately be taken in to the sand blasting room and sand blasted clean, then they will be immediately sprayed with an electrically charged paint and put into another oven to allow the paint to be bonded to the surface. Then the panels are removed and allowed to cool. How do I know this, I asked for a tour of course.
I am not the only one with this problem I have heard from 4 to 5 of you about the same thing. Westerbeke says the panels were powder coated, from the way the paint is pealing up around the rust, the equipment or process wasn't working properly. The shallow gutters in our hatches allows allow water on these panels all the time, and there are only 2 drains, not 4.

Ice Maker not making Ice?

It should look like this after removing the (1) front screw.

Not like this. Take your vacuum, use the horse hair brush and sweep it clean.

Adding Kitchen Cabinets to a 4100 Maxum

Hi:

We own a 41 Maxum and are looking for some help finding how to purchase the overhead cabinet that was an option in the galley for glasses etc.  We have the cherry wood interior and would like to add this feature to our great boat.  Do you have any suggestions?  Thank you in advance for all your help. Brynne and Darrell

Tough question, I would start by looking up the part number @ http://www.maxumboatparts.com/
Then:
How and where to order Maxum Parts from anywhere.
You can order maxum parts through your selling dealer or from any dealer for that matter. This Dealer, Olympic Yacht Center does a high volume of Maxums and has been able to provide parts to anyone calling. The contact is Ron Jones, 206-325-6774, olympicyachtcenter@juno.com

Master Mariners:

Our Master Mariners know all there is to know about their boats and share their knowledge with other owners of the same model boats, They are the repository of knowledge about the boat. The smaller the boat the easier it is to know. Some of our Master Mariners get E-mailed monthly, some once and quarter. Usually they are people who have owned boats before and plan on keep this particular boat for a while.
There are still a few models open, are you interested?

Recliner moves aboard:

I have always missed having a recliner aboard our 4600. So much so that I thought about removing 1/2 of the couch. Where do you find such a thing? Whats the answer? http://www.foldingrecliners.com Of course!

I bought two and they both fit topsides, facing forward, and both have enough room to recline.
